Shattered at Night, Glazed by Morning
This apartment lobby door was hit in an overnight break-in. The tempered glass had done its job — it crumbled instead of leaving blades in the frame — but the entrance was wide open to the street and every resident's front door was suddenly the building's only lock.
We cleared the frame, secured the opening the same night, and took exact measurements while we were there. The replacement tempered panel went into the original frame a few days later, with new stops and gaskets. Nobody had to replace a door.

The First Hour Matters Most
When you call, we ask three things: is anyone hurt, is the opening at ground level, and roughly how big is it. That tells us what to load before leaving. If someone is injured or you suspect an intruder is still on site, call 911 first — we'll wait for the all-clear.
On arrival the priority order is fixed: make the area safe, clear loose glass out of the frame and off the ground, board the opening with plywood cut to fit, then measure. Boarding is a proper job, not a sheet leaned against the frame — screwed to the frame or the surrounding structure so it holds through wind and rain.
You get an itemized invoice listing glass type, thickness and exact dimensions. That's the document insurance adjusters ask for, and having it ready the same night speeds the claim up considerably.

How fast can you actually get here?

Do you charge extra for coming out at night?
After-hours call-outs cost more than a booked daytime visit — there's no way around that. But the board-up and the glazing are separate charges, so you're not paying emergency rates twice. If the glass is cracked but intact and the building is secure, we'll tell you honestly that waiting until morning is cheaper and no less safe.
Can I board it up myself and call you tomorrow?
If you're comfortable with the tools, yes — and it will save you the after-hours fee. Our board-up guide walks through doing it safely. What we'd rather you didn't do is climb a ladder to a broken upper-storey pane, or handle large sheets of broken glass without cut-resistant gloves.
Will my insurance cover an emergency board-up?
Usually, when the cause is sudden — break-in, vandalism, storm or vehicle impact. Wear and stress cracks generally aren't covered. Check your deductible against the quote before claiming; on a single small pane it's often not worth it. What if the frame is damaged too, not just the glass?
We'll tell you on the spot. Aluminum storefront framing usually survives a break-in intact and simply needs reglazing. If a corner has pulled apart or a vehicle hit it, framing is quoted as a separate line item so you can see both numbers before deciding.
What warranty and insurance do you carry?
Sealed units carry a 10-year warranty against seal failure, and our workmanship is warranted for one year from installation. Sparkle Glass Ltd. is in good standing with WorkSafeBC and carries liability insurance — certificates are available on request for property managers, strata councils and commercial clients.
