One sheet, no grout lines

Tile looks great for about a year. Then the grout behind the stove starts holding onto grease, and the lines along the counter start to discolour no matter what you scrub them with. A glass backsplash has no grout at all — cooking splatter wipes off with the same spray and cloth you use on the counter.

That single fact is why most of our backsplash jobs are replacements for tile. Glass is non-porous, it never stains, and it doesn't care how many curries you cook.

Back-painted in any colour you like

The colour on a glass backsplash isn't a film on the surface — it's paint applied to the back of the glass, where it sits protected and can never be scratched or worn away by cleaning. We can match virtually any colour: bring a paint chip, a cabinet door or a photo of your countertop, and we'll make samples you can hold up in your own kitchen light.

Soft whites and greys are the quiet classics; a deep colour turns the backsplash into the feature of the kitchen. For light colours, low-iron glass is worth the small upgrade — it keeps whites truly white instead of the faint green tint of standard glass. The same shop cuts our custom mirrors, so odd shapes and outlet cutouts are routine.

Safe behind a range

Yes, glass behind a gas or induction range is safe — with one requirement: it has to be tempered. Tempered glass is heat-treated to handle the temperature swings behind a cooktop, the same safety glass used in shower doors. We temper every panel going near a heat source as a matter of course, and we keep the proper clearances around gas burners.

Behind sinks and prep areas with no heat, standard glass is fine — but many clients temper everything for peace of mind, and we're happy to price it both ways.

How measuring and installation works

The sequence matters: countertops go in first, then we template. We measure the finished space because walls are never perfectly straight — the glass is cut to follow the actual wall, with precise cutouts for outlets and switches.

Then the glass is cut, painted and tempered to those measurements. Installation day is quick: panels go up with adhesive and a fine silicone edge, the outlets go back in, and you're cooking the same evening.
