Security Window Film for Storefronts & Homes

Security film is a clear, nearly invisible layer that holds glass together when someone tries to smash through it. The window may crack — but it doesn't open. It's the simplest upgrade between plain glass and a barred window.

How security film actually works

The film is a thick, optically clear polyester bonded to the glass with a powerful adhesive. When the glass breaks, the shards stay stuck to the film and the sheet stays in the frame — so instead of a hole to step through, an intruder gets a spiderwebbed pane that has to be pounded, again and again, to make an opening.

That changes the math on a break-in. Smash-and-grab depends on seconds: break the glass, grab, gone. A filmed window turns one swing into a minute or more of noise and effort, which is exactly what thieves don't want. Most give up and move on.

Storefronts and ground-floor targets

If your shop has been broken into — or the shop next door has — you know the pattern: a rock or a hammer through the front glass at 3 a.m., and the loss is the merchandise plus the window plus the cleanup. We install security film on storefronts across Vancouver, and it pairs naturally with our commercial storefront glass work — film can go on existing panes or onto brand-new glass.

Because it's applied to the inside face of the glass, film can't be peeled off from outside. For higher-risk locations we can anchor the filmed pane to the frame with a structural sealant, so even a fully shattered sheet stays locked in place.

Better-looking than bars — and it earns its keep

Bars and roll-down shutters tell the street "this block isn't safe" and hide your displays after hours. Film is invisible: your window looks like a window, merchandise stays visible, and the entrance keeps its look.

There's a bonus most people don't expect: quality security film blocks the vast majority of UV, so flooring, furniture and merchandise fade far more slowly. It earns its keep even if nobody ever swings a hammer at it.

Homes, schools and offices

The same logic protects a ground-floor condo, a basement window hidden from the street, or the sidelite beside a front door — the pane someone breaks to reach in and unlock the deadbolt. Safety film also keeps glass together after pure accidents: a kid's stray ball, a slipped ladder. For schools and offices, it's a quiet layer of protection that doesn't change how the building looks.

If a window has already been broken, call our emergency line — (778) 785-1365, answered 24/7 — and we'll secure the opening and replace the glass. Our board-up guide covers what to do in the first hour, and film can be applied to the new pane once it's in.

Common Questions

Frequently asked questions

Can someone peel the film off from the outside?

No. The film goes on the interior face of the glass, so there's nothing to grab from outside. From inside, removal takes a steamer and a scraper — a deliberate job, not something that can happen during a break-in.

Will security film stop a determined intruder?

Honestly, nothing stops someone with unlimited time and tools. What film does is turn a two-second smash into minutes of loud, repeated effort — and that's what defeats smash-and-grab. For most break-ins, delay and noise are the deterrent.

Will my windows look different?

Clear security film is very hard to spot once installed — most visitors will never know it's there. If you want a tinted or reflective version for privacy or heat control, that's available too.

Can film be added to my existing windows?

Yes — most jobs are retrofits on glass that's already in place. We clean and prep each pane, apply the film, and trim it to the frame; large panes and tempered glass are no problem. Estimates are free — book a visit and we'll measure and quote exactly.
